DRILL & BLAST ENGINEERING
Drill and blast engineering, from someone who has run the pit.
Audits, engineer cover, blasting trials, optimisation and training for Western Australian mines and quarries, done by one engineer who has designed the shots, fired them and answered for the result as a quarry manager. Available now.
01 · AUDITS
Drill and blast audits
An independent look at the whole chain: design against the geology, drilling accuracy and QA, charging and explosive selection, timing, fragmentation, vibration and airblast against your limits and AS 2187.2, flyrock control, the blast management plan and the records that prove it.
How it runs. Time on site with your engineers and the crews, the last shots' designs, QA and monitoring data, then a written report: findings ranked by risk and cost, what to change first, and what to measure to show it worked.
02 · COVER
Engineering coverage
A drill and blast engineer for leave cover, a vacancy or a campaign, who can take the designs, the charging sheets and the blast reports from day one and hand them back in order.
How it runs. Tell us the dates, the fleet and the software; the first reply says who, when and the day rate.
03 · ADVANCED BLASTING
Advanced blasting and trials
- Signature hole programmes: single-hole seismograph records to characterise your ground and choose the delay timing that cancels vibration rather than adds to it.
- Vibration modelling and control for neighbours, walls and plant: predicted levels per shot, then timing, charge weight per delay, decking and initiation sequence set against the monitored limit.
- VOD (velocity of detonation) trials to verify that the product performs in your holes, with your water and your sleep times, not only on the data sheet.
- Trial design, measurement and a written result you can take to the general manager, the community or the regulator.
How it runs. We agree the question the trial must answer, what the site provides (holes, product, monitoring points, a shot window) and what you get back (the records, the analysis and the recommendation), before anything is fired.
04 · OPTIMISATION
Blast optimisation
Fragmentation, dig rates, oversize, wall control, dilution and cost per tonne, measured before and after, so the gain is real and the change sticks.
How it runs. A baseline from your last shots, one change at a time, the same measurements after each, and a short note per shot so your engineers can carry it on without us.
05 · TRAINING
Drill and blast engineer training
On-site training for engineers and supervisors, built around your fleet, your rock and your plans: design, QA/QC, timing, vibration, documentation and the statutory obligations that sit around blasting.
How it runs. Worked on your own shots, in your own software, with a design review at the end that the trainees present. Suits one or two engineers as well as a team.
ASK ABOUT ENGINEERING WORK
Tell us what you are trying to fix or prove.
A vibration complaint, a run of oversize, a wall that will not stand, two graduates who need a mentor, a product you are not sure about. Say what it is and what the last few shots did; the first call will say how it would be approached, what it would take from your site and what it would cost.
